I saw a person in need today
Passed by them without even a smile
Our eyes met, I didn't know what to say
Moment gone forgotten for a while
But that night as I lay thinking
God I missed yet another chance
If only I hadn't felt afraid
And had courage to lend a helping hand
Lord, make my life a prayer
Let me take your truth and peace everywhere
Let my words be said with kindness
Take away my selfish blindness
Give me the grace to love to really care
Jesus, help make my life a prayer
So Lord I'm praying for this person
For those around me, those behind prison walls
I'm praying for the hungry and homeless
Let me hear them when they call
Turn my prayers into action
Not only thoughts of good will
What good are my good intentions
Love is nothing if it stands still
How many times have I walked by you?
Your face in those who suffer in pain
As I struggle in my own weakness
Have I crucified, crucified you again
